Now a four generation firm, Thomas and Proetz started wholesaling lumber
from a downtown
St. Louis office building in August, 1896 when the company
was formed by Charles E. Thomas
with relatives that
included his brother-in-law, Bernard M. Proetz. The company soon
expanded to
its present location where the office and sheds were built so
that a ready inventory, mostly of high
quality hardwood lumber, could be
maintained. The nature of the company's business is similar
today to
its earlier years in spite of the many changes made to stay
abreast of the times.

The moulder
is now permanently installed at the St. Louis yard.
On-site template and
knife grinding facilities also allow T&P to make alterations to any of the
profiles that we offer. This flexibility ensures that our expert craftsmen
can help turn your concepts into realities.
